A sneak peak at some of our most memorable jobs

We’ve been in business for five years now, and over that time we have gone to some truly unique places and met so many fantastic people. Here, we’ll take you through some of our favourite projects, all memorable for entirely different reasons.

The nifty fifties

We love working with our wonderful clients to bring their dreams to fruition, and this retro design is a time travelling favourite of ours.

In 1956 Aga launched coloured Agas for the first time, having previously only offered cream. These early Deluxe models in pale green, pale blue, grey and white had top plates to match the colour of the front and doors, resulting in a single colour harmonious look.

Inspired by these early Agas, our client asked us to create this stunning, one of a kind Aga. Every enamel fitting has been re- enamelled in soft pearl grey, with matching side panels and chrome fittings. We powder coated the plinth in a pale neutral colour matched to the Farrow & Ball shade of their skirting. Every detail has been carefully considered, resulting in a serene yet striking finished product.

An Aga for the history books

Rhod Gilbert and his actor and wife Sian Harries AGA Refurbishment

This was a very special and unique project, and not just because of the rather fabulous clients!

Welsh comedic legend Rhod Gilbert and his actor and writer wife Sian Harries gave us an absolutely wonderful brief: ‘An Aga that looks like it’s been here for 100 years.’

They were long term solid fuel users, seeking an Electrickit model for their seating area - a place to gather, socialise and enjoy or simply to sit with a good book. Many of our clients tend to want their refurbished Aga to look sparkling new, adding a certain pizzazz or elegance to their kitchen. Rhod and Sian, however, were looking for something quite different. An Aga that looked old and traditional, woven into the fabric of their home’s history.

Jumping at the challenge, we sought out and presented a range of original Standard Model Agas in traditional Aga cream. They then selected an Aga with the level of wear they were looking for and we partially reconditioned it to their specifications. The end result combined the original front and lids with a re enamelled top plate and replacement parts throughout, giving the look of a well loved but refreshed AGA.

If you're are also looking for something a little unusual, never be afraid to raise your ideas with us. If you can dream it, we can deliver it.

Huge thanks to Rhod for being such a good sport on the picture front! And on a more serious note, we at Rural Ranges send Rhod all the good wishes in the world for his current health journey. We’re all rooting for you.

A Grand Design

We’ve visited some absolutely amazing properties over the years. This stunner was for a Huf Haus, seen on Grand Designs from 2004. The 4 oven in graphite with black chrome goes perfectly with the black frame of the house, and we are completely in love with the incredible splashback, which brings the whole look together into a beautiful piece of art.

The house was originally built by David and Greta Ireldale, and was the first Huf Haus featured on Grand Designs. It is a German made prefabricated way of building; cost-efficient, time-efficient, and eco friendly. Over the years, prefabs have become more and more popular, so it is a real treat to know one of our Agas stands proudly in one of the UK’s pioneers.

WWII Arctic Convoy

Perhaps the very best thing about what we do is meeting and getting to know the incredible people we work for. We were contacted by a distinguished gentleman of 101 and his 93-year-old wife, looking to replace their defunct Agathermic with a reconditioned oil Aga. After much debate on the need for speed versus the perfect colour, the client opted to wait for their chosen Hunter Green shade to be enamelled to match their much cherished glassware set, gifted to the lady of the house on her 21st birthday.

One of the last survivors of the Arctic Convoys, the gentleman had been decorated with many honours for his service, including the Arctic Star and 3 special medals by the Russian Federation. He was a pilot of Walrus and Fulmer Aircraft, tasked with both protecting the convoys from the air, and breaking the ice from the ships’ rigging to protect it from being weighed down into the sea. His centenary was celebrated with a Royal Navy acrobatic fly past.

It was a true honour and privilege to meet this extraordinary couple and to ensure that the lifelong comfort which has been their Aga continues to be a presence into their future.

A breath of fresh air

Outdoor Aga Installation for Ark at Egwood

Engineers Steve and Jamie with the pre 1974 golden oldie.

This was a very memorable installation in a setting quite unlike anything we’d worked in before.

We were approached by local land-based therapeutic charity Ark at Egwood, who were looking to install a solid fuel range cooker in their new outside kitchen area. We stumbled across this unusual pre 1974 beauty, which was exactly as magical and whimsical as the enchanting space required. We stripped and internally refurbished the Aga before rebuilding it on site in South Somerset.

These older cookers present some unique challenges - including every Aga engineer’s nightmare insulation, Fuller’s Earth - but with stubbornness and determination this aged lady has now has a new lease of life. She now sits within 12 acres of land and woodland, where the outside space and animals help restore confidence and emotional wellbeing to all those who visit. We would highly recommend a visit to the Ark’s website for more information.

We wish the wonderful community at Ark of Egwood every enjoyment and success with her. It was an absolute honour and a pleasure to step into this special place and share in it awhile.

King of the castle

6 Oven Pewter Aga Refurbishment

Thanks to Malky Nimmo for partnering with us to install this beauty.

This was perhaps one of our grandest projects, in one of our most impressive locations yet.

An Aga was needed for a beautiful Scottish castle, which was undergoing a major renovation by exclusive interior design company 3 Design Scotland. As castles don’t require small and subtle, we needed to go BIG.

It’s hard to see it now, but this 6 oven 13Amp Aga in NC Pewter (we offer 3 variations of pewter), started life as a 4 oven in cream. It was re-enamelled, re-conditioned, and given the addition of an integral model, transforming it into the titan you see today.

Big Agas always have big impact, but sometimes its the smaller details which make them really stand out. This Aga’s fittings were treated to 24 carat gold throughout, and we also supplied the golden plinth on which it now proudly stands. From quiet and unassuming, the Aga now makes the ultimate statement in an outstanding Scottish home.
